1) Erin Caffey – A Teenage Murder
Erin Caffey was just 16 years old when she helped her boyfriend and two other teens murder her family in their Texas home.
It was a cold-blooded, pre-planned attack that stunned the small community of Alba, Texas. And it all started with a young girl’s obsession with a boy who was bad news.
Erin’s parents, Penny and Terry Caffey, were shot and stabbed to death in their beds. Her two younger brothers, 8-year-old Tyler and 13-year-old Matthew, were also stabbed multiple times. Tyler managed to survive the attack, but Matthew died from his injuries.
Erin and her boyfriend, Charlie Wilkinson, were both charged with capital murder. The other two teens involved, Charles Waid and Bobbi Johnson, pleaded guilty to lesser charges and testified against Wilkinson and Caffey.
All four teens were sentenced to life in prison. Erin will be eligible for parole in 2033, when she’s in her early 40s.

2) Erin Caffey – A Life of Crime
Erin Caffey was only sixteen years old when she orchestrated the murders of her entire family.
On the night of March 1, 2008, Erin Caffey persuaded her boyfriend, Charlie Wilkinson, and his two friends, Bobbi Johnson and Charles Waid, to kill her parents, Penny and Terry Caffey, and her younger brothers, eight-year-old Tyler and thirteen-year-old Dylan.
The group first went to the Caffey home in Alba, Texas, where they shot Penny and Terry while they slept. Dylan and Tyler were both shot multiple times, but Dylan managed to escape and ran to a neighbor’s house for help. He later died at the hospital.
After the murders, Erin Caffey and her accomplices drove to Tyler, Texas, where they set fire to the Caffey house.
Erin Caffey pleaded guilty to two counts of capital murder and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Charlie Wilkinson, Bobbi Johnson, and Charles Waid all pleaded guilty to lesser charges and were sentenced to 20 years in prison.
3) Erin Caffey – A Troubled Teen
Erin Caffey was a typical teenager. She went to school, had friends, and was active in her church youth group. But her life took a dark turn when she began dating Charlie Wilkinson.

Erin had been beaten and raped. She was covered in bruises and cuts, and her clothes were torn.
Erin’s parents took her to the hospital, where she was treated for her injuries. They then called the police and Charlie was arrested.
Erin’s parents were devastated. They couldn’t understand how their daughter could have been involved with someone like Charlie.
But Erin was determined to get her life back on track. She finished high school and went to college.

4) Erin Caffey – The Night of the Murders
It was the early morning hours of March 2, 2009 when 16-year-old Erin Caffey and her two younger brothers, 8-year-old Dylan and 13-year-old Luke, were brutally attacked in their rural home in Alvarado, Texas. Erin’s parents, Penny and Terry Caffey, were also shot, but they survived the attack. Erin’s boyfriend, Charlie Wilkinson, and his friend, Charles Waid, were both charged with capital murder in the case.
According to investigators, the motive for the attack was Erin’s relationship with Wilkinson. Her parents had forbidden her from seeing him, and they were planning to send her away to live with her grandparents in order to keep her away from him. Investigators believe that Wilkinson and Waid came to the Caffey home with the intention of killing the whole family, but that Dylan and Luke were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Erin was shot multiple times and was left for dead, but she managed to crawl to a neighbor’s house for help. She was airlifted to a hospital, but she later died from her injuries. Dylan and Luke were both killed in the attack. Penny and Terry Caffey both survived, but they were both left with serious injuries. Penny Caffey lost an eye as a result of being shot in the head, and Terry Caffey was shot multiple times and was left paralyzed from the waist down.
Wilkinson and Waid were both sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
5) Erin Caffey – The Aftermath
It’s been almost a decade since Erin Caffey carried out one of the most heinous crimes in Texas history. In 2008, Caffey plotted with two teenage boys to kill her family in their rural home in Alvarado, Texas.
