In an interview on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Davis discussed her role in “The Help,” overcoming obstacles such as barely making it into acting school and facing discrimination throughout her career.”When I walked into [acting school] and started my first class and saw who was in my class and looked around, I felt like I was in the minority,” she recalled.Despite the obstacles she faced, Davis is extremely grateful for everything she’s gained from her journey, including opportunities to work with legendary filmmakers like Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks.”I wake up every day very content with what I’ve done because it wasn’t easy for me,” she said. “The Help” premiered at the 2011 U.S. Sundance Film Festival where it won the Grand Jury Prize. The film went on to be nominated for Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Actress- Viola Davis.

Musical Performance by Jennifer Hudson: ‘Giving Myself’

Jennifer Hudson sang a classic soulful “I Believe” accompanied by a gospel choir and backup singers. She also performed her latest single “Butterfly” which proved to be a crowd pleaser. Jennifer was in excellent vocal shape and looked really happy on stage. She interacted with the audience throughout her performance, thanking them for coming and urging them to stay until the end. Highlights from the Jennifer Hudson show included her powerful rendition of “I Believe,” an emotional performance of “Butterfly” and an entertaining duet with George Michael called “Never Gonna Give You Up.”

Funny Moments: Jennifer Hudson Impersonates Famous Singers

As the show began, Jennifer Hudson channeled Whitney Houston with a powerful rendition of “I Will Always Love You.” But things got even crazier when Hudson took on other famous singers, including Britney Spears and Celine Dion.

“I’m such a big fan of Britney Spears,” Hudson admitted. “Not only because she’s such an iconic figure in popular culture, but also because I think she’s really talented.” And Hudson was sure to take the opportunity to give Britney some props for her latest music video, asserting that it was well done.

But it was Celine Dion who stole the show—literally! Hudson impersonated the Canadian superstar by performing Dion’s signature hit song, “The Way You Loved Me.” Of course, Hudson didn’t miss a beat and delivered an amazing performance that left the audience in awe.
